Redwood Meadows is a magical place to be during the Holiday season. Coming back home from the bustling city and turning into the community on a cold winter’s day is like entering a Winter Wonderland (insert big sigh of relief.) Here are some ways to avoid the city as we head into the busy winter weeks with slippery roads, dark evenings and forecasts begging you to curl up at home.

November 30, 1:00-3:00pm – PHOTO SHOOT WITH SANTA – steer clear of the mall lineups and come to this annual RMCA-sponsored opportunity to get your kid’s photos taken with Santa – catch a horse-drawn wagon ride and decorate some cookies while you are here. Bring your smiles and Food Bank donations.
December 3, 7:00pm- CAMP HORIZON CHRISTMAS STOCKING STUFFER – the annual tradition of filling Christmas stockings for the campers at Easter Seals Camp Horizon continues. Please bring stocking items for the special campers with disabilities who call Camp home for the holidays. Suggested items include: toiletries, crafts, games, socks, mitts/gloves, etc. No candy or items with nuts please!
December 14, 7:30 – midnight – COMMUNITY CHRISTMAS DANCE featuring THE BLUESEROS – come celebrate the season with your friends and neighbours at this Holiday shin-dig with live music, food and cheer! Tickets $10 in advance; $15 at the door. Tickets now avaialble at Redwood House.
December 22, 5:00-7:30pm – SANTA IN THE WOOD – Santa Claus and his elves take their annual sleigh tour of Redwood Meadows on this evening, stopping here and there to collect mail and Food Bank donations. See the Santa Stop Schedule in the December Chatter.
December 31, 5:30pm – NEW YEARS COMMUNITY POTLUCK – join the community in celebrating the new year with a community potluck put on by the RMCA. Residents are asked to bring an appetizer, main dish, salad or dessert to feed a crowd. Buns and juices are provided. Wine and beer will be sold at the bar. Make it an evening with the entire family with a skate at the rink and the fireworks show At 8pm!
December 31, 8:00pm – NEW YEAR’S FIREWORKS – come watch the fireworks at the Redwood sports field. The skating rink will be open, there will be hot chocolate at the concession and a bonfire with marshmallows. Happy 2014!!
AT THE RINK: Throughout the Christmas School Holiday, there will be a FAMILY SKATE daily 1:00-2:30pm. On Sundays, FAMILY TIME will be 2:00-4:00PM and feature concession and bonfire.
